For higher amounts of sample, we recommend using a Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13. A pre crushing to < 2 cm is necessary (with e.g. Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I).
Before a fine grinding with Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 can be performed, all particles need to be < 2 cm. For this, we used the Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I for pre crushing of your kind of sample.
All material has been fed within 1 minute. The majority of resulting particles use to be < 6-8 mm. A few particles with up to 11 mm length can be found. Even higher amounts can be ground.
Cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.
Pre ground material of result 1 has been used for a grinding to the desired range. With a gap setting of 0,5 mm, resulting particles will have a thickness of 0,5 mm. The maximum length of particles is depending on the brittleness of sample. In this case, only a few particles > 1 mm passed the gap between the disks. By sieving an aliquot of sample, 100 % of sample has been able to pass the 1 mm mesh of the test sieve.
Even higher amounts can be ground this way.
Only a few grams of sample use to lie loose inside of the grinding chamber (mainly on the ribs of the fixed grinding disk). For cleaning, we used a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush.
