We recommend using a Planetary Mono Mill PULVERISETTE 6 classic line for grinding the desired amount of sample. Sintered corundum (as requested) can be used for this kind of sample.
250 ml grinding bowl made of sintered corundum (Al2O3)
+ 6x 30 mm Ø Al2O3 grinding balls
Feed quantity:
30 g
Feed Size:
< 4 mm
Additive:
+ water 25ml
Grinding time:
5 min
Final fineness:
90% < 93 µm
Comments:
A dry grinding of wet compost sample is not possible. Because of its moisture, sample will start sticking rapidly.
A grinding in suspension is cable to reach the desired endfineness of < 100µm.
After 5 minutes of grinding, already 90% of sample is passing a 93µm sieve. A longer grinding time is plausible to achieve 100% < 93µm.
By using sintered corundum for grinding, sample will be ground metal free; sintered material tends to show higher wear off as other ceramics. For this, we recommend only grinding for moderate times (max. 10 minutes) or using other materials for balls and bowl.
