We recommend a combination of Power Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 25 and Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 for comminution of this sample. |

A direct comminution of Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 for fine grinding is not possible. With a start size of ~ 10 cm for the largest particles, a pre grinding needs to be performed. For this, we used our Power Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 25.
Within 4 minutes, the complete sample got comminuted to < 6 mm. Longitudinal passing sample shows a maximum length of ~ 1,8 cm.
After grinding, only minimal residues use to be left loose, lying on top of the sieve cassette. Cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.
Now the fine grinding of sample can be performed with our Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 (see result 2).

Pre ground sample of result 1 has been used for this trial. Also a manual precutting of sample might be possible for a feeding of sample to Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19.
The pre ground sample of result 1 has been fed in batches. It took about 40 minutes until the complete sample amount has been comminuted. During grinding, small dust particles could escape the standard feeding funnel. To minimize dust exploration, we placed the tube of a vacuum cleaner next to the feeding funnel to remove such fine particles.
After grinding, cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.
If the optional sample exhauster system with cyclone separator will be used. Ground particles will be removed with the high airflow of 2800 liters per minute rapidly when sample is able to pass the sieve mesh. This way, grinding speed with be improved as well as dust exploration which will be hindered (cyclone use to contain a HEPA filter element). With the air flow, also sample and grinding chamber will be chilled additionally too.
