After a pre grinding of sample (with Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I or manually), the desired amount of sample can be ground with our Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14.
For pre grinding of the clots, all sample has been ground with our Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I. After a total of 2 minutes, the complete amount of 270 g has been ground to < 8 mm (length)
For a proper sampling of 25 g of sludge (from 270 g of original sample), we recommend using a Rotary Cone Sample Divider LABORETTE 27 to minimize error rate in further analysis.
Usually 50 % of sample use to show a diameter, half of the trapezoidal openings of the used sieve ring (with 0,2 mm sieve ring: d50 < 0,1 mm is expected to be found).
The 25 g of sample have been ground within 1 minute. About 50 % of the openings of the sieve rings use to be closed with sample. Probably 30-35 g of sample can be ground, before the sieve ring needs to be cleaned.
Probably the grinding result can be improved, when sample will be (freeze) dried first.
