We recommend using a Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14 for grinding your kind of sample. Also a Planetary Mono Mill PULVERISETTE 6 classic line is capable to grind the sample to the desired endfineness. |

Sample has been fed slowly. After totally 9 minutes of grinding, sample has been comminuted to < 0,2mm. By using a 0,2mm sieve ring, usually 50% (vol) of particles use to be smaller as 100µm.
For a grinding of higher amounts (usually > 70g), we recommend using the optional accessories for grinding large quantities

Comments of result 1 use to count for this trial too.
Accessories for grinding large quantities will also provide a better cooling effect of sample my higher airflow.
With harder samples, a pre grinding step with e.g. 1,0mm sieve ring might be recommend to improve the durability of fine sieve rings.

A mortar grinding does not seem to be suitable for grinding amber samples. Even after 20 minutes of grinding, still particles of ~ 1mm size can be found. |

By dry grinding of amber in agate, grinding success occurs slowly. After totally 10 minutes of grinding, majority of particles use to be < 200µm. Probably grinding balls and bowl with higher density (e.g. zirconium oxide with 5,7g/ml instead of 2,65g/ml) might show a better and faster grinding result.
