Before a fine grinding can be performed with Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13, a pre crushing is necessary. For this, we used our Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I.
Pure copper as sample will be too ductile for a proper comminution (will only became deformed); but the content of elemental copper is very low (and size of copper particles is small).
Most of sample use to be slag. For this, a grinding of this sample might be possible.
The complete sample has been ground within 1 minute. Majority of resulting particles use to be < 8 mm afterwards. Even higher amounts of sample can be ground this way.
After pre grinding in result 1, the sample can be used for a fine grinding with a Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13.
It took about 2 minutes for a grinding of 1,1 kg of pre ground sample. Afterwards, the thickness of particles use to be < 1,5 mm (like the gap setting use to allow to pass); resulting particles can still be longer or higher (in this case, up to 2-3 mm).
Only a bit of sample use to remain loose inside of the grinding chamber. Cleaning can be performed by vacuuming with a soft brush.
