Original start size uses to be too big for a direct comminution of sample. A Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 will be suitable for a precutting of sample. We used a side cutter for such a small piece to achieve particles of ~ 5 mm for a grinding with Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14. The precut pieces have been fed and got ground within 60 seconds. Such comminuted sample can now been fed to a sieve ring with 0,12 mm trapezoidal perforation for fine grinding. Grinding chamber can be cleaned rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.

Sample of result 1 (< 1 mm pre ground) will be used for this fine grinding trial.
With PULVERISETTE 14, ground particles usually have a mean size which correlates to the half of the trapezoidal perforated openings. With a 0,12 mm (120 µm) sieve ring , a particle size of d50 < 0,06 mm (60 µm) is expected to be found.
Complete sample has been fed and got ground within 2 minutes. Ground sample use to be a fine and soft powder. A lot of particles use to be electrostatic charged and stick to the collecting pan. They needed to be brushed out of the pan. Afterwards, cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.
Even higher amounts of sample can be ground this way.
