Sample can be ground directly with our Planetary Mono Mill PULVERISETTE 6 classic line. After pre grinding, it is also possible using a Mortar Grinder PULVERISETTE 2 to reach the desired fineness.
First trial with original sample pieces (up to 15mm in length) has not been successful. After manual pre grinding with a hammer, comminution was possible.
Variation of scraper position has been required in the beginning of the grinding process. Coarse sample was lightly sticking to the scraper and needs to be removed with a soft brush. Probably it might be beneficial to pre comminute the sample to < 5 mm to optimize the start phase of grinding.
After totally 20 minutes of grinding, fineness has been checked. A d50 < 41µm has been reached.
Original start size sample can be fed directly without pre crushing. After only 3 minutes of grinding, sample has been ground to homogenous powder with a d50 < 19µm.
Desired endfineness has already been reached. Grinding has been aborted.
A total grinding time of 2 minutes might be fulfilling to achieve the desired fineness too.
