For pre grinding, we recommend using a Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I; afterwards, the desired amount of sample can be ground with a Vibration Cup Mill PULVERISETTE 9.
Within 3 minutes, the complete sample of 1,6 kg of Ferro tungsten has been ground to particles, mainly < 6-8 mm. Only a few pieces use to be up to 1 cm long.
A grinding of higher amounts is still possible.
Also the usage of crushing jaws and lateral support walls made of hardmetal tungsten carbide are plausible if a contamination with iron should be avoided.
100 ml grinding set made of hardmetal tungsten carbide (WC)
Feed quantity:
250 g
Feed Size:
< 8 mm
Grinding time:
8 min
Final fineness:
< 200 µm
Comments:
With ~ 250 g of pre ground sample (see result 1), it took 8 minutes of grinding at 1000 rpm, until all particles got ground to < 200 µm. Sample is not sticking, even longer dry grinding times are plausible to achieve a better fineness.
A higher speed setting with improve the grinding result rapidly. For a grinding of higher sample amounts, up to 250 ml grinding sets can be used.
