We recommend using a Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14 for grinding of desired amount of sample. |
Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14 classic linerotor speed: 20.000 rpm |
||
Equipment: |
impact rotor with 12 ribs made of stainless steel + impact bar (14.2850.00) + sieve ring: 1 mm trapezoidal perforation |
|
|
30 pieces (app. 37 g) | |
|
< 20 mm | |
|
25 s | |
|
< 1 mm | |
|
Complete sample amount got fed and ground within 25 seconds.
Sieve ring, impact bar and rotor are free of residue, a grinding of higher amounts of sample is still possible.
Cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush. All parts can be dissembled without using tools for an intensive cleaning with warm and soapy water.
Usually, majority of ground particles will show a fineness which is smaller than the half of the size of the trapezoidal openings. With a sieve ring with 1 mm trapezoidal perforation, a d50 < 500 µm is expected to be found.
Also sieve cassettes with smaller trapezoidal openings can be used for comminution.

Also in our second trial, the same amount of sample got fed within 25 seconds.
Sieve ring, labyrinth disk and rotor are mainly free of residue. Only a few openings of the sieve ring are blocked with sample pieces. It might be beneficial to pre grind sample (e.g. with a 2 mm trapezoidal perforated sieve ring) before grinding the sample with a sieve ring with 0,5 mm trapezoidal perforation.
Cleaning has been performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush. All parts can be dissembled without using tools for an intensive cleaning with warm and soapy water. The few sticking particles inside the trapezoidal perforation had been removed previously with a wired brush made of brass.
Usually, majority of ground particles will show a fineness which is smaller than the half of the size of the trapezoidal openings. With a sieve ring with 0,5 mm trapezoidal perforation, a d50 < 250 µm is expected to be found.
