250 ml grinding bowl made of zirconium oxide (ZrO2)
+ 15x 20 mm Ø ZrO2 (for 20 minutes)
+ 50x 10 mm Ø ZrO2 (20-60 minutes)
Feed quantity:
5x 4 g = 20 g
Feed Size:
< 15 mm
Additive:
+ 80ml ethanol (extra pure)
Grinding time:
60 min
Final fineness:
d90 <23 µm
Comments:
The bulk density is so high, that only 4 g of sample fill the 250ml bowl to the maximum. For this, grinding has been aborted each minute and additional 4 grams have been refilled after the volume of sample collapsed. After 4 refilling’s (totally 5x 4g), ethanol have been added and sample has been ground.
To avoid overpressure, we ground the sample in steps of 5 minutes, followed by a programmed pausing time of 10 minutes. After several cycles, the outside temperature of the bowl should be checked (remain below 70°C); grinding time or programmed pausing time might be readjusted afterwards.
After totally 20 minutes of grinding, balls have been changed to 10mm Ø for achieving a faster grinding result.
Grinding has been proceeded for totally 60 minutes. Afterwards, fineness has been checked with our Laser Particle Sizer ANALYSETTE 22 NanoTec and the small volume dispersing unit.
Desired endfineness has been reached expectations.
For a grinding of higher amounts, up to 500ml bowls can be equipped on a Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 classic line with up to 4 bowl fasteners.
