We recommend using a cutting mill like e.g. Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 to comminute this kind of sample. |
Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 Speed 300-3000 rpm |

Equipment: |
standard rotor with V-cutting edges and fixed knives made of tool steel + sieve cassette with 2 mm trapezoidal perforation |

The complete sample has been ground within 30 seconds. Because only a very small amount of fine dust (electrostatic charged) use to remain in the grinding chamber, a grinding of higher amounts would be possible too.
For a rapid cleaning, we recommend vacuuming with a soft brush. Even finer sieve cassettes might be usable for comminution of this kind of sample (see following results).

The dry sample can also been ground with a 1,5 mm sieve cassette without problems. After 30 seconds, all sample got ground. Only a small amount of sample use to be lightly attached to the grinding chamber.
For a rapid cleaning, we recommend vacuuming with a soft brush.

The remaining 18 grams of sample have been ground with a 1,0 mm sieve cassette. After 20 seconds, all sample got ground. Because only a small amount of fine sample dust remains in the grinding chamber, also higher amounts of sample can be ground.
Next to a Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19, also a Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 15 might be suitable for a cutting of such a sample. Probably its straight cutting edges might need to be re sharpened earlier as the V-cutting rotor of a PULVERISETTE 19. The PULVERISETTE 19 will have advantages regarding cleaning, handling and available accessories. |
