Mix of Fungi (Edible Mushrooms - dried)

For the desired number of batches (~ 30x per day) and sample amounts between 1 – 5 grams, we recommend using our Knife Mill PULVERISETTE 11 with a Single-Use-Grinding-Vessel (40 ml). For higher sample amounts, 100 ml vessels are also available. The knife inside the vessel can spin up to 14.000 rpm and comminutes brittle samples like dried mushrooms relatively fast.

We used a kitchen knife to precut the mushrooms to ~ 2-3 cm, so the large fragments cannot interlock inside the vessels lid (7cm lid-diameter). Only a minute was required to pre-cut the mushrooms.

We fed 3 grams of sample into the 40 ml vessel (filled ~ 1/2 of available volume). The vessel was closed and clicked into the adapter. The mill was programmed to comminute the sample in intervals of 5 seconds. After each step, a pause of 3 seconds was programmed to inspect the sample after each grinding step.

We estimated that the max. achievable fineness was reached after 4 cycles (20 seconds). The mill was stopped after a total grinding time of 30 seconds. A finer result might be achieved when the sample would be pre-dried further. With freeze-dried samples the finest grinding results will be achieved.

A cleaning of the equipment was not required due to the single-use-vessels used.
