For a comminution of such ductile material, we recommend using a Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 in combination with the optional sample exhauster system with cyclone separator. |
Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 Speed 300-3000 rpm |

Equipment: |
standard rotor with V-cutting edges made of tool steel + sieve cassette: 4 mm square perforation + sample exhauster with cyclone separator |

Also a direct feeding of sample with sieve cassettes of 0,5 mm or 0,25 mm perforation might be possible. Eventually the total grinding time might be reduced if sample got pre ground to < 4 mm as shown in this trial.
With the optional cyclone separator, air flow of ~ 2800 liter / minute will remove electrostatic charged sample out of the grinding chamber when it is able to pass the sieve cassettes openings. Also sample and cutting rotor will be chilled additionally.
Even with the usage of the cyclone separator, it took 6 minutes until the complete sample amount of 170 g got ground.
About 70 g of ground sample has been packed for demonstration, result of sample will be used for fine grinding in following trials.
Cleaning of the machine has been performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.

< 0,5 mm | |

Even with the optional cyclone separator, only an output of ~ 7 g/min has been achieved. After a total grinding time of 9 minutes, the grinding chamber is almost empty.
Cutting rotor and openings of the used sieve cassette use to remain free of residues. A grinding of higher amounts of sample should be possible.
Like result 1, cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.

With smallest standard sieve cassette, an output of only 4 g/min has been achieved. After a total of 10 minutes, only a minimal amount of residue uses to be left loose in the grinding chamber.
A grinding of higher amounts of sample should be possible.
