Fresh fish use to be soft, mushy and full of moisture. To prevent a smearing over sieve cassette or knives, we recommend embrittling the trout before feeding.
standard rotor with V-cutting edges and fixed knives made of hardened stainless steel
+ sieve cassette 6 mm square perforation
Feed quantity:
190 g
Feed Size:
25 cm
Additive:
+ liquid Nitrogen (N2)
Grinding time:
1 min
Final fineness:
< 6 mm
Comments:
To avoid a smearing of sample inside the grinding chamber, we recommend embrittling the sample before feeding.
We used liquid nitrogen and placed the complete trout inside until it became rock solid. Afterwards, the trout could be fed and slided into the grinding chamber. Grinding sound stopped within the minute we fed the fish.
After grinding, only 2 pieces was lying loose on top of the sieve cassette without been grabbed by the rotor. It was very easy to brush them off. Afterwards, grinding chamber, rotor and sieve cassette have been clean.
Also a higher amount of sample can be ground this way.
On the attached photo pages, you will see the fresh fish after embrittlement; collecting vessel and several photos of fresh ground sample which is still have a temperature < 0 °C.
