We recommend using a Planetary mill for grinding these kind of sample (see result 3). |

As desired, Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 has been tested. Usually, Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 will be used for a continuous grinding of brittle materials. Hard and ductile materials like most kinds of steel granulate will cause problems.
Also with this sample, a higher amount of sample inside of the grinding chamber will disturb the rotation of the movable disk and the security switch will be activated.
Only small amount of sample can be fed (with minimum sample inside of the grinding chamber. For this, it took about 3:30 minutes until all sample got ground. Because only one dimension will be < 0.1mm, still larger particles up to 0,6mm length can be found afterwards.
Because of abrasion on the cast steel grinding disks, only hardmetal tungsten carbide will be recommended for a grinding (see result 2).

Best grinding result has been achieved in this trial. A fine powder has been achieved after 12 minutes of dry grinding. No particles > 1mm have been found.
It is possible separating desired fraction (by classifying, sieving, sifting, etc.) and proceed grinding coarse particles for a further improvement of grinding results.
