For pre grinding, we recommend using the Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I; afterwards, the sample can be fine ground with our Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13.
After 20 seconds of grinding, the complete sample amount has been ground to < 2,5 cm. This size will be suitable for a fine grinding with Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13. To avoid a jamming of the Disk Mill, we recommend pre grinding with a smaller gap position to maintain all particles < 2 cm (recommended start size for PULVERISETTE 13).
With a gap position of 2,0-2,5, all particles should be < 2 cm. The total grinding time will be minimal longer as shown in this trial.
With a gap setting of 1,0 mm (min. 0,1 mm can be adjusted), we received 55,8 % of sample in the desired range of 71-630 µm. Only 5,1 % use to be < 71µm and will be loss. Bigger particles can be fed a second time (probably with a smaller gap setting {e.g. 0,9 mm}) to achieve a higher output of desired fraction.
Grinding chamber use to be free of residues, no sample use to smear between the two grinding disks, a grinding of higher amounts of sample is still possible.
