After pre crushing the cake with e.g. Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I, higher amounts of sample can be ground to < 200 µm with our Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13.
With a start size up to 60 mm, a direct grinding is not possible. Because of its hardness of the pressed cake, we used our Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model I to pre crush the sample with this trial.
After 4 minutes and 30 seconds, the complete sample amount of 5,5 kg has been ground to < 1,5 cm. This is a proper start size for a grinding with Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 (for this, see result 2).
There are almost no residues left in the grinding chamber. For this, even higher amounts can be pre ground without any problems.
After pre grinding the cake in result 1, we use the Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 for a grinding to the desired fineness.
For this, we set a gap of 150 µm and started grinding the complete pre ground sample from result 1.
After 5 minutes, the complete iron powder cake sample has been ground. There are no sticking residues between the grinding disks; for this, even higher amounts can be ground.
Because sample can pass the disks gap after 1 dimension of ground sample is < 150µm, we used our Vibratory Sieve Shaker ANALYSETTE 3 Pro and a test sieve with 200µm mesh (as desired) to determine the fineness by sieving of an aliquot.
With a gap setting of 150 µm, already 97,6 % of sample is passing a 200 µm mesh test sieve. It is possible to increase the amount of sample < 200 µm by setting a smaller gap (min. 100 µm should be set as gap).
