We recommend using the Planetary Mono Mill PULVERISETTE 6 classic line for grinding your sample. In this case, it wasn’t necessary to grind in suspension to achieve the desired endfineness.
The achieved grinding result after 5 minutes of dry grinding with agate for balls and bowl use to be extraordinary fine. Usually, particles tend to stick to each other when a fineness of d50 < 20µm is reached. Then fine ground particles just become compressed to clusters. Those clusters will contain bigger particles, which will not be ground any further.
Also a second trial with silicon nitride for balls and bowl has shown a similar result after the sample grinding time.
The particle-size-analysis was done with our Laser-Particle-Sizer analysette 22-Compact
