grinding disks made of hardmetal tungsten carbide (WC)
Feed quantity:
250 g
Feed Size:
app. 2 cm
Grinding time:
1 min
Final fineness:
90 % < 1 mm
Comments:
With a start size of 2 cm, the particles fit into the feeding funnel. If larger particles will be included, we would recommend pre crushing the sample with a Jaw Crusher (like PULVERISETTE 1).
As requested, grinding disks have been made of hardmetal tungsten carbide. Also steel disks might be capable to grind this kind of sample.
The complete sample amount has been ground within 60 seconds. Mainly electrostatic charged particles use to remain inside the grinding chamber. A grinding of higher amounts is still possible.
With a gap setting of 0.6 mm, particles only need to be ground to that size in one dimension to pass the gap between the disks. Therefore, still wider or larger particles can be found after grinding. Largest ground particles use to show a length of ~ 1.6 mm.
We determined the achieved fineness by sieving of an aliquot with our Vibratory Sieve Shaker ANALYSETTE 3 Pro and a test sieve of 1 mm mesh. Already 90 % of sample is smaller as 1 mm.
It is still possible to adjust a lower gap setting to reduce the particle size to 100 % < 1 mm.
